Back to News

In March 2024*, we were successful in getting approval for two crossing points, one on Royal Parade and one on Bromley Lane to improve pedestrian safety around the junction.  Sadly a simple green crossing function on the junction itself was not feasible.

Since then progress has been frustratingly slow!  We gave an update in August here & on our website. Since then the cyber hack of TfL somewhat delayed the signals design. However, the project is progressing as officers are working on the different aspects of the scheme.

In good news, the Royal Parade section of the scheme has now been handed over for build, however, the timescale is dependent on the contractor’s programme. We are waiting for updates on this and will let you know as soon as we have more information.

Pedestrian safety at this junction is absolutely paramount and we will continue to do all we can to see this through as soon as it is possible.

The full committee paper, which explains all the options, can be read here on pages 87-94
