Over the last couple of weeks, there have sadly been several burglaries reported to the Police in the Watts Lane and Cricket Ground Road area. We completely understand how worrying and unsettling this is for residents; feeling safe in your own home is essential, and incidents like these naturally leave people feeling anxious and vulnerable.
We have raised these issues with our Safer Neighbourhood Team to ensure they are fully aware of what has been happening and can take appropriate action.
We would also encourage residents to register with the Met’s new platform, Met Engage. Through Met Engage, you can get to know your local officers, help shape how policing is delivered in your area, and receive direct access to key information and advice. This isn’t just a platform for updates, it’s a meaningful way for you to share your concerns, influence local priorities, and ensure the issues that matter most to you are being acted upon. Visit www.metengage.co.uk and complete the sign up now field. Please note it is not a crime reporting tool.
In addition, we would encourage residents to attend our local community police surgeries, where you can speak directly with officers, raise concerns, and receive practical advice. The next one is on Thursday 4th December at 3pm in Chislehurst Library – there is no need to make an appointment. Just turn up at 3 pm or soon thereafter. They are usually there for an hour.
There is also a Safer Neighbourhood Panel meeting on Thursday 12 February 2026 at 6.30pm in St Mary’s Church Hall, which we will be attending. Please do come along, these meetings are an excellent opportunity to work together, share experiences, and help shape the safety priorities for our area.
In the meantime, there are steps residents can take to help protect themselves and support wider community safety efforts:
- Report anything suspicious immediately, even small details can help build a clearer picture.
- Ensure all doors, windows, side gates, and sheds are securely locked, especially at night.
- Make use of security lighting, alarms, or cameras if available, as these act as strong deterrents.
- Stay connected with neighbours, particularly those who may be more vulnerable.
- Consider joining or forming a Neighbourhood Watch group, which strengthens communication and community resilience.
We will continue monitoring the situation closely and will share updates as we receive them. If you have any concerns or further information, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
