Back to News

Dear Councillors,

As you’ll appreciate the winter weather resulted in an unprecedented number of defects forming across the highway network. Unfortunately our contractor was unable to identify sufficient resources to complete all works within our usual timescale, an issue which is regrettably outside of our control. We have however appointed a second contractor to assist in clearing the backlog, which we’re hoping will improve the situation.

Our highways contractors have been working across the borough during the last week, with 14 gangs completing a total of 214 carriageway repairs, 194 footway repairs and attended 47 emergencies. Full resurfacing works were also completed in the following roads as part of our annual planned works programme;

  1. Southlands Road, Bromley
  2. Waldegrave Road, Bromley
  3. Park Hill, Bromley
  4. Lotus Road, Biggin Hill
  5. Tilbury Close, Orpington
  6. Willow Close, Orpington
  7. Common side, Keston

Works will be ongoing in the coming weeks in an effort to clear the backlog of repairs which continue to be identified following the winter weather. If you or your residents are aware of any dangerous defects on the footway or carriageway, we’d appreciate it if these could be reported using the ‘Fix My Street’ tool on the Council’s website.

If you would like further information, please contact your Councillor.

I’m afraid we’re unable to provide programme dates for any particular repairs.

Regards
