Working for you, working for Chislehurst

War Memorial junction

We were proud to deliver on one of our key campaign promises by working closely with council officers and the local community to finally introduce the first pedestrian crossing facilities at the War Memorial junction. While the scheme may not be everything many had hoped for, it represents a significant step forward in improving pedestrian safety.

We are also pleased to have worked with the community to secure agreement for a new traffic island between the two bus stops on Centre Common Road, another important improvement for pedestrians. Work on this project began in late August 2025, and we remain committed to pushing for further enhancements in the area.

Phone mast in the post office car park

After a year-long campaign by local residents, we’re delighted that the phone mast in the car park behind the post office in Chislehurst has been removed. While there is clearly a need for improved phone signal in parts of Chislehurst, somewhere so obtrusive, and installed without any consultation or planning permission was not the answer. We will continue to work with officers and mast companies to identify suitable sites, particularly in areas of the ward where the signal is notoriously poor.

Blue badge holders

We’re proud to have played an active role in the successful campaign against plans to introduce parking charges for Blue Badge holders in Chislehurst and throughout the Bromley borough. Right from the beginning, it was clear how much this policy would negatively impact disabled residents, and we knew it wasn’t right.

Working with local campaigners and members of the community, we raised concerns, spread the word, and pushed for the Council to listen and the decision was overturned.

Securing the long-term future of our Library

After years of uncertainty and neglect, we worked closely with council officers to agree on a plan for the renovation and improvement of Chislehurst Library. Work began in October 2024, and we were proud to attend the opening of the newly redeveloped library in August 2025.

In the meantime, we made sure that a range of library-related services continued to be available in Hornbrook House while the building was being redeveloped.

Potholes

The resurfacing of Albany Road, between Greenway and Prince Imperial, was a much-needed improvement, and we’re pleased to hear that Edgebury is also scheduled for resurfacing in 2025/2026. However, the overall condition of our roads continues to be a major concern. New potholes seem to appear almost every day, adding to the long list of repairs needed. If you spot a pothole during your travels, please report it on “Fix My Street.” We are actively pushing for ongoing improvements to our road network and appreciate your help in bringing attention to these issues.

Making our streets safer

We have been involved with police Community Road Watches to promote speed awareness on a series of roads in the ward, including Green Lane, Ashfield Lane, Yester Road, Lower Camden, Prince Imperial Road, and White Horse Hill. We have also toured with traffic and parking officers to identify and implement solutions for improving road safety.

We have also partnered with local residents to strengthen road safety initiatives including sight lines at busy crossings and junctions, such as at the top of Red Hill near the primary school.

Parking and road issues

We have collaborated with residents and Council Officers to enhance the CPZ U parking scheme in the centre of Chislehurst. This has proved to be a popular initiative, although there have been some teething problems that do now appear to have been addressed. We are also having an almost continuous dialogue with residents and council officers, making suggestions about how to improve traffic flow in the area.

We have addressed a big number of resident concerns including drop kerbs, parking restrictions, dumped cars, and illegal parking.

Rubbish collection, recycling and fly tipping

We have conducted tours with Council Neighbourhood Managers to improve rubbish collections, street cleaning, and recycling in Chislehurst. We’re concerned that the temporary closure of the Waldo Road waste and recycling centre in 2025 could see an increase in the incidences of fly-tipping. We will always remain vigilant and would ask residents to report occurrences of fly-tipping on Fix My Street so they can be cleared promptly.

Chislehurst, where community thrives

All three of us have proudly supported the amazing team of volunteers in Chislehurst over the years, helping to organise some of the biggest local community events in the ward. These include the festive Christmas Market, the popular Chislehurst Motorshow, Chislehurst Thrives festival, and the fantastic Chislehurst Rocks.

Most recently, we’ve helping out at the newest addition to the Chislehurst calendar, the 2025 Beerfest.

Meetings and casework

Since you put your trust in us in May 2022, we’ve handled more than 2,000 pieces of casework on behalf of local residents. We regularly visit residents in their homes and hold two councillor surgeries each month in Chislehurst, where we speak directly with residents about a wide range of concerns.

We attend council meetings at the Civic Centre on a regular basis, actively participating in debates and discussions that shape borough-wide policy. We also take part in various council committees alongside fellow councillors, ensuring that Chislehurst has a strong and consistent voice in key decisions affecting the whole borough.

Thank you for your support

We’re incredibly proud of the progress we’ve made together over the past few years. While we’ve always focused on letting our actions speak for themselves, we want to take a moment to thank everyone who has supported, challenged, and worked with us along the way.

None of this would have been possible without the passion and commitment of local residents, volunteers, and community groups. Your input, energy, and belief in making Chislehurst better have been at the heart of everything we’ve achieved.

There’s still work to be done, and we remain fully committed to pushing for further improvements and standing up for our community every step of the way.

A special thank you to everyone who has invited us to your functions, we have met so many wonderful people who are as passionate about Chislehurst as we are! It’s truly one of the best parts of what we do.

Thank you for your trust, we’re proud to represent you, and we’ll keep working hard for Chislehurst.

See you soon!
