We have been advised by the Council that three new yellow box junctions are being installed on Bromley Lane.

The locations are:

  • Bromley Lane / The Shaw
  • Bromley Lane / Shepherds Green
  • Bromley Lane / Ashfield Lane / Perry Street

The road markings are currently being installed.

At this stage, the Council has confirmed that CCTV enforcement has not yet commenced, and no Penalty Charge Notices (PCNs) will be issued until a formal enforcement date has been agreed. We have been advised that Ward Councillors will receive advance notice before enforcement begins.

Why are they being introduced?

The Council has advised that an operational decision has been made to introduce enforcement at a number of new yellow box junctions across the borough.

Following that notification, we asked a number of questions to better understand the background to the decision, including the factors that were considered when selecting these locations. As your Councillors, this information helps us respond to enquiries from residents and explain the reasoning behind changes that affect our local roads.

At the time of writing, we are still awaiting a response to a number of those questions.

What happens next?

The yellow box junctions will remain in place once installed, but enforcement will not begin until the Council confirms a go-live date for the CCTV cameras.

We will share that information with residents once it has been provided to us.
